Nikon Imaging Cloud
First up, the Nikon Zf is now compatible with Nikon Imaging Cloud! This means you can download image recipes from Nikon or your favourite creators and even design your own (using NX Studio). Whether you want contrast drama, a bleached pastel look or vibrant, popping colours, you’ll be able to get the look you want straight out of the camera. Simply register your camera with Nikon Imaging Cloud and you can browse and download the recipes you like – all for free! You can have up to nine recipes on the camera at one time and switch them out for others when you find something new.
Nikon Imaging Cloud also allows you to instantly transfer your images to your chosen third-party cloud storage so, for example, you can have your images instantly appear in your Lightroom library via WiFi – no fiddling around with cables or card readers.
Firmware 2.0 for the Nikon Zf will also be the last time you have to update by SD card. All future firmware updates for the Zf will be wireless via Nikon Imaging Cloud – you can set them to download to your camera automatically or choose to download them when you want.

Elsewhere in Zf v.2.0, a specific bird recognition mode has been added to the autofocus for detection and tracking of birds.
High-Res Zoom for video is now available on the Zf, too, offering zooming of up to 2x (even with prime lenses!) with no loss of resolution. You can choose from 11 different zoom speeds and operate it simply by assigning control to an Fn button on the lens, the control ring or one of the camera buttons. This means much more flexibility from your gear when recording videos and speeding up workflow in the edit.
With its retro looks, the Nikon Zf is a perfect partner for vintage lenses. With a Mount Adapter FTZ II, you can attach up to 360 NIKKOR lenses to the camera body, more than 90 of which retain full AF and exposure control.
For manual lens lovers there are now upgrades to the camera that make the process of using them even better. In non-CPU settings you can now set the focal length and aperture yourself and, for the first time, you can name each non-CPU lens, with up to 36 characters, in the menu system. Used aperture values can now be recorded as data on your files for your future reference, too.
When a manual lens is detected, the live view zoom maximum is now increased to 400% rather than the usual 200%. This is a huge help in precise focusing with manual lenses and, once the desired focus is reached, a quick half press of the shutter button takes you back to full live view.
Elsewhere, exposure delay has been added to the Custom Settings menu so that the shutter is only opened after a set delay following pressing of the shutter button. This is a real help in avoiding camera shake on long exposure tripod shoots, such as nightscapes and astrophotography.
Finally, exposure compensation and ISO can now be assigned to the command dials when in Manual (M) mode, so these can be adjusted easily with your thumb while looking through the viewfinder.
